The Process
At this time, my commissions are open! This means that if there is anything you would like me to paint or draw for you, I am open to it. Your childhood home? A cherished family member? Beloved pet? A beautiful scene or moment in time that you want to hold onto? Contact me and I’ll see if it’s possible!
Spaces are limited but if I miss you this round, I will keep you on the list for when I am able to work on commissions again in a few months.
If you keep scrolling to the bottom of the page, you’ll find images of a few past commissions. I hope they give you a sense of what’s possible, but also don’t limit your ideas! It’s just a small sample or my commission work.
1. Let’s talk! Send me a message through the form below or to alisonlockertartist@gmail.com. You just have to let me know your name and what kind of portrait you are interested in (size, if you have a particular image to work from, colour preferences, if there is anything in particular that you would like to include, etc.), I will respond and provide you with a price estimate. Then, we can further discuss your vision for the piece. I have my own style, strengths, and preferences, but truly want to create something that you will love and cherish for years to come.
2. Proposal & Contract: Once we have figured out your needs and wants in terms of size, budget, style, etc. I will need a high quality image to work from (unless we have discussed otherwise). When it comes to a portrait or something with fine details… the better the image, the more details I have to work from! I will then provide you with mock-ups to choose from for composition and a contract (if applicable). The contract just ensures that the agreed upon price, timeline, and what to expect in general is clear for both of us. A deposit of 50% of the cost will be required in order for me to begin the piece, in order to cover things like supplies and time.
3. Updates & Completion: I will provide you with updates often throughout the process, including when I begin the work and at various stages of the work. You can also feel free to email me at any time if you would like a quick update. Once the work is finished, I will send you some final images and we will arrange shipping or pickup / drop-off. Final payment will also be due, provided that you are 100% satisfied with the final result.
Can’t wait to hear from you and start working on your project!!
